Renting a place in or near Bang Tao, Phuket: what to check
What to check before renting near Bang Tao Beach in Phuket: the difference between beachfront and a few streets back, seasonal prices and rental terms, using Phuket Real 24 apartments as an example.

You can rent a place in Bang Tao right on the beachfront or a couple of hundred meters back — and that is not a minor detail, it changes both the price and the noise level. The second option is often the better deal: beach infrastructure stays within walking distance while the building itself sits away from the main tourist flow.
What counts as the Bang Tao area
Bang Tao is one of the beaches on Phuket’s west coast, and a whole tourist district has grown up around it, with hotels, restaurants, and shops. A place “in Bang Tao” is not only a building right at the waterline — the district stretches inland for several streets, and some listings sit outside the beachfront strip, including on the border with the neighboring Surin area.
Our complex, Mida Grande Resort, stands right on that border: it is 712 m to Bang Tao Beach and 769 m to Surin Beach. Technically it belongs to the Surin side, but Bang Tao is actually the closer beach.
Beachfront vs. a few streets back
A place right on Bang Tao Beach means more noise and more foot traffic, and part of the price goes toward a view you use for a few hours a day. A few streets back, but still within walking distance, the same infrastructure stays close while the difference shows up in the details: fewer people in the hallway, quieter evenings, easier parking.
Our own balance looks like this: 712 meters to Bang Tao Beach, a private property with six pools (four of them on the rooftop), a restaurant, and a Starbucks cafe — several things people usually rent beachfront for are available here without it.
How much it costs to rent near Bang Tao
Our lowest published rate starts at 22,500 THB per month (low season, Pool view 40 m² category) and from 990 THB per night for a short stay. The full price grid by season and category is in our article on Phuket apartment rental prices in 2026.
Stays of 10 nights or more get a 5% discount, 14 nights get 10%, 22 nights get 15%, and 28 nights get 25%. For longer stays there are separate seasonal or yearly contracts, covered in long-term apartment rental in Phuket.
What to check before choosing
- The actual distance to the beach in meters, not just the word “nearby”. Ours is 712 m to Bang Tao — about a 10–12 minute walk.
- What is included in the price. Cleaning, utilities, and the deposit are usually billed separately from the rental rate — the full breakdown is in renting a place in Phuket for a month: what is included in the price.
- Kitchen and washing machine. For stays of two weeks or longer, this noticeably affects both the budget and day-to-day comfort — no eating out every meal, no trips to a laundromat.
- On-site infrastructure. Pools, a gym, and a co-working space reduce how often you need to leave the property at all.
- Long-stay terms, if you are planning a month or longer: discounts and contracts change the total more than the choice between beachfront and the next street over.
How Bang Tao differs from neighboring Surin
If you are weighing not just locations within Bang Tao but the choice between Bang Tao and nearby districts, we cover that separately in Surin or Bang Tao: where to stay. In short: Bang Tao is livelier and more built up, Surin is quieter. A place on the border between the two, like ours, gives access to both.
